As an elementary teacher it's easy to forget that reading instruction needs to continue throughout k - 12. If we don't build a solid foundation of strategies early, especially for struggling readers, the deficiency gap will only grow wider. It was good to get confirmation from Mr. Brozo that reading comics, lyrics, etc can be beneficial - not everyone is interested in reading chapter books but it's essential that all students keep reading. Do you find this valuable?
