The speakers will highlight their books in the International Reading Association’s Essential Reading series, the perfect fit for district wide or individual professional development.The IRA’s Essential Reading series offers a collection of 15 peer-reviewed articles grounded in research and full of instructional strategies. Each article is supplemented with Questions of Reflection to guide professional discussion.

Prior to the Insitute, all eductors will receive Essential Readings on Motivation by Linda Gambrell, Jacquelynn Malloy, and Barbara Marinak as part of the registration fee. Attendees will receive a letter or email stating the title of two articles within the book that should be read to build prior knowledge about the latest research on student motivation.

The remaining five Essential Reading series titles are listed below and available for anyone who attends the Institute. Those attending the institute for three graduate credits are expected to select one other title of interest from the remaining five Essential Reading series titles. This book will serve as the topic of the second professional learning community on Thursday morning. All books will be shipped, free of charge, from the International Reading Association, to your home address. Please make checks payable to IRA.

I am not interested in graduate credits but I need act 48 credits by jun 30, 2010. How will this course work for me. How many act 48 credits can I obtain if I take this course for act 48 credits without getting grad credit awiner

I am interested in taking the Institute for 3 grad credits. However, I already have all the Act 48 credits I need for this 5-year period which ends June 30, 2010. Is there any way that I would earn my grade after July 1st? That way, these credits can go to my next 5-year period?
