COURSE REQUIREMENTS for GRADUATE CREDIT:

· Upfront Readings and Professional Learning Communities: Educators will be required to read and evaluate two research articles in the Essential Readings on Motivation and another Essential Readings in the area of his/her expertise. Educators will be prepared to discuss the author’s message and recommendations for applying the research to improve their curriculum. (25 points each/50 pts)

· Reflective Blog: The nature of this course requires student engagement, reflection, and analysis of the application of concepts presented. Informal reflections and reactions will be recorded daily on an on-line discussion board at: www.psusummerinstitute.info.
(5 points each/ 25 pts)

· Educational Initiative Presentation: Educators will present the findings and recommendations from the Summer Institute to inform and motivate other educators in their home district. (25 pts)

· Note: Accommodations will be provided to those that experience an extended school year due to weather related issues.
