Kathy Stetter has been teaching elementary students for over 20 years, in 4th and 2nd grade. Kathy has recently acquired a masters degree in instructional technology from Philadelphia University. She is a Keystone Technology Educator and also belongs to the Discovery Education Network Star Educator program. Kathy has instructed educators through the South Western School District during summer workshops, in-service trainings, the SW Technology Summit, and also at the Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12. She recently co-presented a workshop with colleague, Laura Buffington at PETE&C 2010. Kathy uses technology seamlessly within her classroom, guiding students to reach their potential and preparing them for the 21st century.

Description: Students achieve high levels of engagement and learning when teachers tap into the source of their motivation. Since 21st century students are motivated by the use of technology, electronic portfolios are the answer for helping teachers organize and evaluate student learning in innovative ways. In this workshop, educators will learn strategies to design and organize student-centered, standards-based electronic portfolios, a powerful tool to guide formative assessment. Elementary teachers will find out how to help students create electronic "artifacts" that show growth in student learning using a variety of common desktop software tools. .
