Katherine Beauchat and Katrin Blamey, Word Walk: A New Vocabulary Procedure for Storybook Reading with Young Children, Discover the need for instructional strategies in the domain of early literacy and language that develop an instructional sequence designed to foster children’s vocabulary development. The presenters will discuss the ideal context of shared reading within which to embed vocabulary instruction.
  2. Devon Betz, Linda Martier, Deborah Hoover, Comprehension: Getting to the CORE, A literacy coach, a librarian, and a reading specialist team up to deepen students’ comprehension. Shari Young, Let’s Do Lunch: Using a Menu of Reading Comprehension Strategies to Plan Effective Lessons, Using a “literacy lesson planning menu,” the presenter examines the Before/During/After framework and how it impacts reading comprehension.
